Blocked bank account

As a student or participant in a long term language course you may be asked to open a blocked bank account. 

The following banks offering this service are recognised by the German authorities in relation to a visa application:

Fintiba, Deutsche Bank and X-Patrio

Fintiba

With Fintiba you can open the account online and an identification procedure is required after arrival in Germany.

Deutsche Bank

To open the blocked bank account at Deutsche Bank you are asked to have your signature certified and your identity confirmed by a German consulate.

With X-Patrio you can open the account online and an identification procedure is required after arrival in Germany.

Documents

The necessary certifications of copies and signatures can be done by the German Embassy or one of the German Consulates by appointment.

For the certification the following documents must be presented:

  • Filled out application form
  • Passport
  • copie of your passport
  • International prepaid envelope addressed to the Deutsche Bank
  • Proof of the origin of the funds
  • fee: € 20 by credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or equivalent in cash (AU$)

The application will then be send to Germany by us.
