Dear visitor of the website of the German Consulate General in Sydney,
A warm welcome to our website which provides information on our tasks, responsibilities and services.
To deepen and foster economic, scientific, cultural and political exchange between Germany and the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland where more than half of all Australians are living, is a major task of the Consulate General. Moreover the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in legal and consular affairs has been extended to all states and territories of Australia (excluding the Australian Capital Territory) and to the islands of Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Nauru and Vanuatu. Further details and information leaflets about our consular services (incl. passport, nationality and citizenship matters, notarisations, assistance for Germans in an emergency situation and visa affairs) are provided on this website.
You will find links on economic and cultural activities of other German institutions such as the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the German International School Sydney or German interest oranisations such as the Goethe Institute and the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. Hopefully you will find them useful.
I, together with my colleagues at the Consulate General, regard presenting a modern portrait of the Federal Republic of Germany which – as an integral part of the EU – actively pursues an open political dialogue with its partners throughout the world as one of my central tasks in Sydney.
We look forward to your feedback, suggestions and hints of improvement.
Best wishes and kind regards,
