You can update your residential address in your German ID card in person by making an appointment at the Embassy in Canberra or the Consulate General in Sydney, or by post. To do so, please send/bring us the following:

• Your original German ID card
• De-registration certificate from Germany (if you are moving from Germany, or if your German address is still listed in your passport)
• Proof of address in Australia (e.g., an Australian driver's license)
• A prepaid envelope with your address on it (available at any post office), if you would like us to mail the updated ID card back to you. Please note that German missions abroad are not liable for loss or damage during postal delivery or courier services.
