The Economic and Trade section
Australia and Germany enjoy fruitful and dynamic economic and trade relations. The relevant section at the German Embassy in Canberra follows closely and reports on all economic developments in Australia as well as the monetary, fiscal, trade and economic policies of the government and the relevant independent institutions in the country. In this context, Australia’s participation in the G20 process and its involvement in regional organisations and trade agreements is playing an increasingly important role.
A particular focus area is the support for German-Australian bilateral cooperation with regard to green hydrogen and the establishment of new supply chains between our countries for critical minerals and rare earths. The Embassy views itself as an important pillar in the German system of overseas trade and economic cooperation promotion, in unison with their partners at the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and at Germany Trade and Invest. As a point of contact for companies in Germany and in Australia, for business associations and administrators we strive to further bilateral economic relations and support stakeholders moving into those areas of the economy that merit particular attention in the future. Close contacts and cooperation with colleagues at the Delegation of the European Union to Australia are another important element of these efforts.
