The Climate and Environment Section
The German Embassy in Canberra is a climate focal point diplomatic mission. The Climate and Environment Section monitors climate and environmental policy in Australia as well as climate and development policy cooperation with the Pacific Island States of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Nauru.
The section observes developments in international climate and environmental policy and actively shapes climate cooperation, for example, through bilateral climate partnerships and regular Climate Talks with civil society, government and parliament. It supports important regional climate protection and financing initiatives, such as the International Climate Initiative (IKI). In addition, the section implements several regional and micro-projects each year in the areas of biodiversity, adaptation, resilience and disaster risk reduction.
